A video of the last rehearsal before MJ died got leaked today. I have to say, the choreography is kinda fierce! "They Don't Care About Us" was never one of my favorite songs of his, but I like it with the male dancers and the very aggressive style of dancing.
Also, listen at the end of the clip for Kenny's stage direction. Anyone who's ever watched any of the behind-the-scenes HSM stuff will recognize Kenny's voice easily.
But we have tomorrow off, so this is my Friday. I'm trying to keep that in mind as I drag my ass through the day.

The internet exploded today with new pics and videos for just about every actor/musician/GQMF I fancy. It's officially Yummy Guy Day.
New Corbin Bleu pics? Check.
New Lucas Grabeel pics from The Fantasticks and a new demo reel video? Double check.
New Anton Yelchin pics from the Moscow ST premiere and video of him speaking Russian?
Edited to add: D'oh. Yeah, let's link to a locked post. Good idea. *facepalm* Here, have a picture of Anton being gorgeous in Russia. It's not the epic photopost of awesomeness I was trying to link to, but it's better than nothing. *nods*

I saw Terminator Salvation yesterday and enjoyed it very much. I actually thought Christian Bale was the weak link. Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin (the GQMF) were awesome, though! Now I wanna re-watch the first one. It's probably been at least ten years since I saw it. But I am definitely feeling the Kyle Reese love now (thanks to bb Anton). I always liked Michael Biehn as Reese in the first movie, though. I'll have to see if he was as good as I'm remembering!
I'm definitely looking forward to the weekend. Good lord, I'm exhausted!
Edited to add: I do have to say...drinking beer at work is kinda awesome. ;)

I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone who isn't at least familiar with Pride and Prejudice. Part of the humor is seeing how all the characters react to the menace of "the unmentionables."
I knew it was going to be an awesome book right from the opening line, lovingly adapted from the original Jane Austen:
"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains."
Seriously, that's how the book starts. And it only gets better from there. Elizabeth Bennet is a badass! Yet, somehow, still very much a young woman of the Regency era.
"As Mr. Darcy walked off, Elizabeth felt her blood turn cold. She had never in her life been so insulted. The warrior code demanded she avenge her honour. Elizabeth reached down to her ankle, taking care not to draw attention. There, her hand met the dagger concealed beneath her dress. She meant to follow this proud Mr. Darcy outside and open his throat."
See what I mean? Part of me goes "Whoa!" and the other part of me nods and thinks, "Yeah, that sounds like Lizzie Bennet." :)

They look like two little boys sitting cross-legged for circle time while Teacher tells a story. N'awwwww!
Saw Star Trek again, this time with
After the movie, we watched a few episodes of ST:TOS and then went over to Barnes and Noble. I picked up a study guide for the CBEST and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Besides that, I've been kind of kicking back and alternating working on classwork and fanfic. It's been a nice quiet Saturday. :)
P.S. We also had ice cream. Molly said I forgot to mention that very important point. ;)

I got into town with plenty of time to relax and have dinner before changing and heading out to the UCLA campus to see the show. My seat turned out to be really awesome, as seen here.
The show was...amazing. Fantastic, if you'll pardon the pun. The entire cast was just perfect. I didn't know that much about the show going in, other than what I heard on the Off-Broadway revival cast album and what I read on Wikipedia. But that was okay...you don't really need to know anything going in. Just open your eyes and ears and heart and mind and enjoy. :) I absolutely recommend the show to anyone who loves musicals or just a good love story.
And the overall moral of the story is a good one: you can't truly appreciate and value something unless you've had to fight and suffer and sacrifice for it.
Lucas was radiant. You don't hear people say that about males very often, but it's really true in this case. The boy can do it all...act, dance, fight...and of course, that gorgeous singing voice. (Seriously, I hope SOMEONE recorded a performance!) He was just perfect as Matt, the romantic young lead. Matt's transition from the wide-eyed, lovestruck boy in act one to the world-weary, bruised and beaten young man in act two was totally believable. Lucas became the character and you believed and truly felt for him.
Everyone else was great, too, but Lucas just shone. And good thing, too, because that's why I went to see The Fantasticks!
After the show, we were told that there would a reception in the courtyard outside. They had wine (Two Buck Chuck, LOL!) and cheese for everyone. Soon after, the cast slowly started to make their way out the stage door to the courtyard.
I picked up a glass of white wine and some cheese to munch on while I waited. Finally, Lucas came out! I downed my glass of wine and started to weave through the people milling about in the courtyard to go talk to him. A little boy and his mother were talking to Lucas, so I waited for them to finish, then stepped closer and said his name.
To be honest, I don't remember everything I said to him. It's kind of a blur. My apologies if this sounds like "And then I was all...and then he was all...." I know I told him how much I enjoyed the show and his performance in particular, and he thanked me very graciously. I know I told him at some point that I drove all the way from San Francisco (since no one knows where Mountain View is anyway!) and his eyes got wide and he kind of laughed and said something to the effect of "Wow!" But I told him it was totally worth it. And it was!
Then I asked him if he could please sign my program, which he did, and if he wouldn't mind taking a picture with me. No one was really around us, but Lucas said "There's gotta be someone around here who can take a picture." Then he noticed his mom and sister standing off to the side and asked his mom if she would take the picture.
Ahahaha, his mom!
And then Lucas said, "This is my mom and my sister...as if you couldn't tell!" All self-deprecating and cute. Of course, I didn't say that I recognized them and knew who they were even before he told me, because I didn't want him to think I was a scary stalker person.
This is the picture. Yes, I'm posting it again
I thanked Mrs. Grabeel when she handed my camera back to me. Lucas shook my hand and said it was very nice to meet me. I told him my name and gave him a hug. And he hugged me back! I have no idea why I hugged him or how I had the courage to do it, but I'm guessing it was that Two Buck Chuck. Yay, alcohol!
I left him to talk to his family, since they were waiting so patiently, and went off to one of the benches to send a few spazzy text messages and check the picture on my camera. I considered sticking around and trying to see if I could talk to him again later, but I decided not to press my luck! But as I left, he was drinking a glass of the red wine. So in case anyone was wondering, Lucas Grabeel enjoys red wine. ;)
Also, I have to say that boy is gorgeous in person, with a really bright, genuine smile. So pale and pretty!
I saw the show again on Saturday afternoon. My seat for the Saturday matinee turned out to be almost exactly the same as my seat at the Friday show, except on the other side. The show was wonderful, again, but what I was really looking forward to was the Q&A session with the cast afterwards!
Unfortunately, Lucas couldn't stay for the Q&A. The moderator said that he had to leave to "officiate a wedding" before the evening show! Wow. He really does do it all!
The rest of the cast was really awesome, though. There were some good questions and some very funny responses. I wish I could have heard some of Lucas's answers to those questions!
I drove home after the show. So that was my Fantastick weekend. Hooray! It was totally worth it. I'm so glad I made the trip.

I slept terribly last night. I was still wound up from the show and my back was killing me from the drive. Plus, hotel bed. Oh, and my next door neighbors were going at like rabbits. :P
Matinee show today, yay! And then it's back home. *sigh* Guess it had to end sometime. I'll write up the full trip report once I've had more sleep.
I have to say, I really like this part of LA...as much as it pains the NorCal native in me to say that!

I had to swig a glass of wine at the reception to get the courage, but I did it!
Molly asked me to take a picture of the stage.

Lucas is AMAZING. That boy should be on stage always, forever and ever, amen. "Soon It's Gonna Rain" gave me goosebumps.
Also, the show overall is awesome so far. It's intermission now. :)
Expect more lengthy squeeing later tonight.

So, today was insanely busy with band classes and I'm feeling very overwhelmed with all the concerts coming up in the next couple of weeks. It's making me think about all sorts of escapist fantasies.
The biggest one that's tugging at me right now is running off this weekend to LA to go see Lucas Grabeel in The Fantasticks. Tickets are available -- really good ones, too!
